If you believe that Donald Trump must be stopped in order to save our democracy there is a very simple thing that you can do which will make a huge difference.

Erase the words "The Republican Party" from your vocabulary and consistently use "The MAGA Party" to identify Trump and his ardent followers.
Force a choice by asking:

Here's why:

Party identity and loyalty is something that often begins in childhood. Party affiliation is usually inherited from our parents or childhood friends. To change party affiliation is to reject one's own identity, political fraternity and even family. For most people, it is unthinkable to switch party affiliation. Trump knew this. It is the reason that he chose to hijack one of our major parties instead of trying to create a new party. It is the reason he consistently vilifies democrats as "other" or "enemy".

His takeover of the Republican Party is now complete with his daughter-in-law as party chair and giant purges within the Republican National Committee.

It is not the Republican Party that existed when you were born.
Just ask Mitt Romney, Liz Cheney, Adam Kinzinger or any of the other serious conservatives who now find themselves politically homeless.

Give conservatives a way out.
Make them choose: "Are you MAGA or are you Republican?"
Point out the difference.
Give conservatives a way to not support Trump while retaining their identity as Republican.

The result will be fewer votes for Donald Trump.
